2002-022- Opposing Ab680 Redistribution Of Sales Tax And State Revenue GrowthRESOLUTION .2002 - 22 RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS OPPOSING AB 680 REDISTRIBUTION OF SALES TAX AND .STATE REVENUE GRQWTH ., ~a i :~':! ~ :. . WHEREAS, the .Bradley-Burns sales tax revenues for local government services is a primary revenue source for the Town of Los Gatos; and WHEREAS, for the first time in the history of this local government revenue source, AB 6'80 proposes to give control of the local sales tax to the state of California; and WHEREAS, AB 680 now only applies to the Sacramento region,. but sets a dangerous precedent for all the rest of the cities of the state; and WHEREAS, the Legislature and Governor should first protect the local government revenue base from further state intrusion before enacting any measure such as AB 680; and WHEREAS, the state is responsible for the condition of the local government revenue structure that relies so heavily on sales tax revenues; and :_.... WHEREAS, the state has shifted over $4 billion in property taxes from local governments that results in a reliance on local sales taxes; now therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Los Gatos Town Council is opposed to AB 680 as introduced by Assembly Member Darrell :Steinberg.
