A RESOLUTION BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF LOS GATOS
ES TABLISHING POLhCY WITH RESPECT TO SATISFACTION
OF TRAFF[C CIRCULATION NEED IN CONNECTION WITH
ANY FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF THE BASIN AREA LYING
AT THE NORTHERLY TERMINUS OF AL8£RTO WAY.
WHEREAS, that area within Los Gatos bounded by Highway 17 on
thewest, Saratoga Avenue on the south., and an abruptly rising bluff
on the north and east, hereafter, referred to as the "basin area" is
already developed with a commerical center, a 60-unit motel and a
52-unit residential condominium complex, all of which depend entirely
upon the Alberto Way connection to Saratoga Avenue for vehicular
ingress and egress; and
WHEREAS, these uses already result in serious traffic congestion;
and
WHEREAS, as additional development within the basin without
realization o. additional access would result in an increase in 'such
congestion beyond recommended limits; and
WHEREAS, the absence of additional routes of access to the
basin is a potentially hazardous sPtuation which would be dramatically
intensified~by additional development; and
WHEREAS, past studies before the Planning. Commission and Town
Council have not yielded a solution to the above cited need for
additional access.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of the
Town ofLos Gatos "that there shall be no additional development
within the basin area without parallel provision.of additional access
thereto"; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there shalt be no additional access
developed to thebasin from the adjacent .area on top of the bluff
on the north and east, except as approved emergency access routes.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town
Council of the Town of Los Gatos held on the 15th day of
1973, bythe following vote:
