AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING THE MUZZLING OF DOGS UNLESS THEY ARE KEPT
WITHIN A SUFFICI31TT ENCLOSURE OR LED AND CONTROLL7~ BY A
LINE, ROPE OR CHAIN.
TEE BOARD OP TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS do ordain
as follows:-
SEC. l.Every dog not kept within a sufficient enclosure or led and
controlled by a line; rope or chain, or not being effectually muzzled so
as t6-1&event such dog from. biting persons or animals, is hereby declared
to be a menace to public 'health and safety.
SEC.. 2. Every person owning or having control of any dog shall effect
ally muzzle it so as to prevent it from biting persons or animals, pro-
vided, however, that no dog need be muzzled while kept within a suff'.icient.
e?closure.or led and controlled by a line, rope or chain. All muzzles
shall be properly adjusted and shall be of a design approved by the Board
of Town Trustees.
SEC. 3. Every dog not kept within a sufficient enclosure, or led and
e•ortVolled by a line, rope or chain, or not muzzled, as required..by the
provisions of Seceion ,2 hereof, shall be immediately impounded: in the
public.pound by any peace: ofi"icer or' the poundkeep6r..
SEC. 4.Rvery,person violat ng any, of the provisions of this Ordinance
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction they.-eof,
shall be::punished by a fine of not more than fifty (50) dollars or 'by
yogis onrient in the, , c ount'y' j ail for not mor e: than -f ifty (50) days, or by
both such fine and imprisonment.
SEC:. 5.This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after July lst, A.D. 1912T
SEC;. 6. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in. conflict. with this
ordinance are hereby repealed:.
