RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS EXTENDING
THE EXISTENCE OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, Town of Los Gatos Town Code Section 8 -6 empowers the Director
of Emergency Services to proclaim a local emergency if the Town Council is not in session
and that the Town Council shall take action to ratify the proclamation within seven (7) days
thereafter; and
WHEREAS, Town of Los Gatos Town Code Section 8 -5 provides that the Town
Manager shall be the Director of Emergency Services; and
WHEREAS, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property
have arisen within the Town of Los Gatos caused by earthquake commencing at or about
5:04 P.M. on the 17th day of October, 1989, at which time the Town Council was not in
session; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council does hereby find that the aforesaid conditions
of extreme peril did warrant and necessitate the proclamation of the existence of a local
emergency; and
WHEREAS, the Town Manager of the Town of Los Gatos acting as Director
of Emergency Services, did proclaim the existence of a local emergency within the Town
of Los Gatos on the 17th day of October, 1989;
WHEREAS, the Town Council ratified and confirmed the declaration of a local
emergency by adopting a proclamation on October 22, 1989.
WHEREAS, the Town Council adopted resolutions on November 3, 1989,
November 6, 1989, November 20, 1989, December 4, 1989, December 18, 1989, January
2, 1990, and January 16, 1990 extending the existence of a local emergency.
IT IS FURTHER PROCLAIMED AND ORDERED that said local emergency
shall be deemed to continue to exist until its termination is proclaimed by the Town
Council of the Town of Los Gatos, California.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos, this
5th day of February, 1990 by the following vote:
