RESOLUTION REMANDING APPEAL OF PLANNING COMMISSION DENIAL
OF REQUEST TO DEMOLISH AN EXISTING SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCE,
REPLACE IT WITH A NEW SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCE AND TO MODIFY
DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS FOR PROPERTY IN THE R- 1:12,000 ZONE
(48 CHESTNUT - PROPERTY OWNER, DAVID QUINN)
WHEREAS:
1. Architect E. Gary Schloh, on behalf of property owner David
Quinn, has filed an appeal of the Planning Commission's decision as
follows: Denial of a request to demolish an existing single family
residence, replace it with a new single family residence and to modify
development standards for property in the R- 1:12,000 zone located at 48
Chestnut and owned by David Quinn; and
2. A public hearing was held by the Town Council on December 21,
1987.
BE IT RESOLVED:
1. The Town Council hereby finds that the project should be
redesigned to save the large trees and to reduce the square footage of the
house and that the project should be reviewed in terms of the relationship
between the size of the house and the size of the lot.
2. The Town Council hereby further finds that the Planning
Commission was not specific concerning its comments about affordable
housing.
3. Based on the foregoing, the appeal is hereby remanded to the
Planning Commision with review by the Development Review Committee to look
at alternative designs to preserve the trees and reduce the square footage
of the house. The findings of the Planning Commission concerning
affordable housing should be clarified.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the
Town of Los Gatos, California, held on the 4 day of January
1988 by the following vote.

Robert L. Hamilton and Mayor Eric D. Carlson
