BACKGROUND : On May 1 , 201 8 , the Town Council adopted a resolution (Attachment 1) declaring hazardous vegetation (brush) a public nuisance and providing for abatement and set June 19 , 201 8 as a public hearing date to authorize C ounty staff to correct issues for non -compliant propert ies. The property owners within the Wildland Urban Interface area were given a June 1 st deadline for compliance with the option of maintaining their parcels prior to the specified deadline or requesting the C ounty contractor to perform the brush abatement, thus adding the charges to their property tax bill. DISCUSSION : The Santa Clara County Fire Department confirmed that as of June 1 st , all property owners have complied with abating the hazardous vegetation. Since all property owners complied , there will be no County assessments charged to any of the owners’ property tax bills. The typical annual process of holding public hearings for abatement and assessment of costs is not necessary and t his concludes the 201 8 annual program for hazardous vegetation (brush) abatement.
