A RESOLUTION COMMENDING
RUSSELL J. COONEY
WHEREAS, RUSSELL J. (RUSS) COONEY has tendered his resignation as a
member of the Sister City Committee to the Los Gatos Town
Council; and
WHEREAS, RUSS was instrumental in establishing a formal Sister City
relationship with the City of Zihuatanejo, Mexico, in 1972,
for the purpose of promoting better understanding of the
cultural differences between the two cities while furthering
our own cultural activities; and
WHEREAS, RUSS continued to foster a strong bond between the two cities
through exchange visits of local government officials and
other members of the community anxious to fulfill the respon-
sibilities accepted by the Committee; and
WHEREAS, RUSS became an active member of the present committee in
January, 1983;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council of the Town of Los
Gatos, California, does hereby commend RUSSELL J. COONEY for the many
contributions he made to the Sister City Committee on behalf of the Town
and its citizens.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS, CALIFORNIA,
at a regular meeting held this 17th day of January
1984, by the following vote:
